Automotive Engineering (Section 01)

Automotive Engineering is a project-based course that uses a hands-on approach to introduce the engineering design and manufacturing process in automobile industry. Students will get exposure to a wide spectrum of engineering practices ranging from research, design, and simulation, to manufacturing, assembling and testing, from 3D modeling of car body, wiring of steering system, to algorithm development of autonomous driving. In addition to the engineering curriculum, the course also includes units on entrepreneurship such as leadership, project management, budgeting, funding, marketing and brand design of a tech start-up.

The course provides practical training to develop students’ skills to meet the requirements of the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge and the High School Autonomous Vehicle Challenge– two major international/ national competitions in the STEM field for high school students. After initial common training, students will be able to choose one of the two project paths: the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge and the High School Autonomous Vehicle Challenge. They can then focus on the chosen path and develop their skills accordingly.

The course will also be culminating in an annual STEM event in the school– the annual STEM Project Showcase. Students will be presenting and demonstrating their projects to the whole school.
