Ms. Mendlowitz was born and raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. She received her BA in Humanities from The New School of Social Research, and her Masters in Library & Information Science from Queens College. Her working career began as the first female photo technician in the fabled Time Inc Black & White Photo Lab, where she printed the photos of Time-Life photographers Alfred Eisenstaedt, Margaret Bourke-White, Gordon Parks, and many others. These photos appeared in all the Time Inc. publications. Later on, she worked as a photo researcher, specializing in science and medical imagery.
Ms. Mendlowitz loves poetry, photography, film & theater, great food, shooting pool, museums, hiking, the Mets, Italy, exploring abandoned buildings, and kids of all ages.
