Model UN
Model United Nations is an extracurricular activity in which students spend six weeks learning about the United Nations and the kind of work that goes into the diplomatic process. As part of the activity, each student is assigned a country, a UN Committee, and a topic that is taken from the United Nations’ agenda for the current year. After conducting research on their assignments, and spending afterschool time practicing formal debate and public speaking skills, the students attend a Model United Nations Conference in which they take on the mock-role of ambassador from the country they have been assigned and debate the issues with students from other schools.
